FAQs

I’ve never done anything like this before — is boudoir for me?

Yes. Many women who book with Dark Cherry Studios have never done a boudoir session before. But so many end up being returning clients! It’s almost addictive to light this fire.

You don’t need modeling experience or confidence walking in — that’s what this experience is designed to give you.
I guide you through everything, from posing to expression, in a calm, supportive environment.

I’m nervous… is that normal?

Completely.
Feeling nervous is not only normal — it’s expected.
It’s very raw to be so vulnerable in front of someone new.
Every session is paced intentionally, with gentle guidance and breaks as needed. Most clients tell me the nerves disappear within the first few minutes.
And by the end of the session, you may even forget you were nervous to begin with.

Do I need to know how to pose?

Not at all. I’ll guide you through every pose from head to toe. You’ll never be left wondering what to do with your hands, your face, or your body.

What should I wear?

Once you book, you’ll receive a prep guide with outfit ideas and styling tips. Lingerie is always welcome, but bodysuits, oversized sweaters, button-downs, and implied looks photograph beautifully too. You don’t need to purchase anything new unless you want to.

Do you provide hair and makeup?

Professional hair and makeup is not included, but I’m happy to recommend trusted local artists in the Syracuse area. You’re also welcome to do your own hair and makeup if that feels best for you.

Will my images be shared online?

Never without your written permission. Your privacy is always respected, and sessions are completely confidential. Many clients choose to keep their images private, and that choice is always honored.
If I ever need new content for my website to socials, I will do a model call for that intention.

I don’t like certain parts of my body — can you work around that?

What I am not going to do is tell you that you should love your body completely as is. Because we know that and we want that.
But the truth is that everyone has areas they don’t love.
Part of my job is knowing how to pose and light your body in a way that feels flattering and natural. We’ll focus on what you love and gently work around anything you’re self conscious about.

How much does this cost?

There are two options for packages.
And once you see your images (either by zoom/video call or link), you have the option to purchase more.
You absolutely do not have to buy more. But the option is there.
And I will send full pricing in the initial email so you know what to expect from the beginning.
If you decide you want to order more digitals or prints/art work- there are payment plans available as well.

How far in advance should I book?

Due to the private nature of boudoir, a limited number of sessions are offered each month. Some months (like those around holidays) can book up months in advance.
I always suggest booking as soon as you’re able to!

When will I see/receive my photos?

Within 3 BUSINESS DAYS of your session, you will receive a viewing link or an appt for a zoom/video call. I am moving towards less links and more zoom ordering appts.
Your contract will state that I have 2 weeks to deliver your photos and this is a safe guard for me as I am a mom with a wide age of children and you never know when one is going to get sick.
But the average is 3 days. Digitals are immediately downloadable after you choose and any prints/albums/artwork will be discussed at your appt.
